The same carton can produce different dimensional weights under different carrier or service divisors. This comparison tool makes that difference visible without implying that one divisor is universally correct.
How to use this calculator
Enter package dimensions, quantity and actual weight. Choose metric or imperial billing to compare the common divisor pair for that system.
Formula and method
Dimensional weight equals package cubic volume divided by the applicable divisor. A smaller divisor produces a larger dimensional weight for the same physical package.
Worked example
A carton that calculates to 12 kg under a 5,000 divisor would calculate to 10 kg under a 6,000 divisor before comparing either result with actual weight.
What to check before you ship
Use the divisor that appears in the carrier, service, forwarder quote or contract that actually applies to the shipment. Rounding and minimum-billing rules can also affect the final chargeable weight.
Why the result matters
Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
The divisor reference lists planning factors and limitations. Use the dimensional weight calculator to apply a selected factor to actual package dimensions.
