Mixed Carton CBM Calculator

Add multiple carton sizes to one shipment manifest and calculate total CBM without averaging dimensions.

Carton groupsAdd up to 20 different carton sizes from a packing list or shipment manifest.

Each row is calculated separately before the shipment CBM is summed, so mixed carton sizes are not averaged.

Mixed shipments often contain several carton sizes, which makes a single length × width × height calculation inaccurate. This manifest-style tool calculates each carton group separately and adds the total cube.

How to use this calculator

Choose centimetres or inches, then add each carton size with its quantity. Use separate rows whenever outside dimensions differ, even if the products are related.

Formula and method

Each row is converted to cubic metres independently: length × width × height × quantity. The row CBMs are then summed into one shipment total.

Worked example

Ten 50 × 40 × 30 cm cartons and six 60 × 45 × 35 cm cartons are calculated as two separate volume groups rather than one averaged carton.

What to check before you ship

The result is shipment cube only. Pallets, loading gaps, door restrictions, stackability and payload can reduce usable vehicle or container capacity.

Why the result matters

Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.

Common questions

Before you rely on the result

Short answers to the practical questions that most often change shipping calculations.

Why use separate carton groups instead of an average carton size?

Different carton sizes should be cubed individually. Averaging dimensions can distort total shipment volume because volume is the product of length, width and height.

Does total CBM prove the cartons will fit a container?

No. Total cube ignores orientation, gaps, door openings, payload and loading constraints. Use a container-loading tool for a separate fit estimate.

Do I need an account to use this calculator?

No. CargoToolsHub calculators run in your browser and do not require a signup.

Should I verify the result before booking freight?

Yes. Use the result as a planning aid and verify carrier-specific rules, equipment limits, tariffs or contractual requirements before a critical shipment.
