Pallet floor area is useful when a shipment is non-stackable or when warehouse and vehicle planning is driven by occupied footprint rather than cubic volume.

How to use this calculator

Enter one pallet length and width, choose the dimension unit and enter the number of identical pallets.

Formula and method

Floor area equals pallet length multiplied by pallet width multiplied by quantity after converting the dimensions to metres. The result is also converted to square feet.

Worked example

A 1.2 m by 1.0 m pallet occupies 1.2 m². Ten identical pallets occupy 12 m² before operational clearances are added.

What to check before you ship

Do not confuse floor area with CBM or loading metres. A non-stackable load can consume significant floor area even when its cubic volume is modest.

Why the result matters

Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.

Common questions

Before you rely on the result

Short answers to the practical questions that most often change shipping calculations.

Why calculate pallet floor area?

Floor area helps with warehouse footprint, trailer-floor planning and rough space allocation for non-stackable loads.

Is floor area the same as CBM?

No. Floor area is two-dimensional square metres or square feet; CBM is three-dimensional volume.

Do I need an account to use this calculator?

No. CargoToolsHub calculators run in your browser and do not require a signup.

Should I verify the result before booking freight?

Yes. Use the result as a planning aid and verify carrier-specific rules, equipment limits, tariffs or contractual requirements before a critical shipment.
