Dimensional-weight formulas convert package volume into a billing weight. The divisor is not universal: contracts, carriers, services and markets can use different factors and rounding rules.
Common planning divisors
| System | Common divisor | Basic form |
|---|---|---|
| Metric | 5,000 | cm³ ÷ 5,000 = kg |
| Metric | 6,000 | cm³ ÷ 6,000 = kg |
| Imperial | 139 | in³ ÷ 139 = lb |
| Imperial | 166 | in³ ÷ 166 = lb |
Use the divisor printed in the applicable rate, tariff or service rules. The DIM Divisor Comparison Calculator shows how the same package changes under common factors.
