Container planning has two different capacity questions: how much space the cargo occupies and how much it weighs. This calculator compares both at the same time.
How to use this calculator
Choose the container type, enter shipment CBM and gross weight in kilograms. The tool compares cube with nominal internal volume and weight with an approximate planning payload reference.
Formula and method
Cube utilization equals shipment CBM divided by nominal internal cube. Weight utilization equals shipment weight divided by the planning payload reference. The larger percentage is highlighted as the tighter simplified constraint.
Worked example
A dense shipment can reach weight limits while leaving substantial empty cube. A light bulky shipment can use most of the internal cube while remaining far below payload.
What to check before you ship
Payload values vary by actual equipment and operator. Verify the CSC plate, booking equipment and carrier requirements for any operational decision.
Why the result matters
Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
A weight allowance does not guarantee physical fit. Compare it with the cube versus payload guide and check nominal equipment values in the container reference.
