TI-HI notation is a compact way to describe pallet configuration. TI is the number of cases on one layer; HI is the number of layers stacked vertically.

How to use this calculator

Enter pallet footprint, carton dimensions, maximum loaded height and pallet base height. The calculator estimates the best row layout, then calculates how many full carton layers fit vertically.

Formula and method

TI is the estimated carton count per layer. HI = usable stacking height ÷ carton height, rounded down to a whole layer. Total cases = TI × HI.

Worked example

If a layout fits 10 cartons on each layer and 5 complete layers within the height limit, the configuration is TI 10 × HI 5, for 50 cartons total.

What to check before you ship

Warehouse or customer pallet specifications may restrict orientation, overhang, total height or total weight. Follow those requirements even when a mathematical arrangement fits more cartons.

Why the result matters

Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
