Internal container cube is not enough when a large crate, machine or package must physically pass through the door. This tool checks the rectangular cross-section against a nominal or custom door opening.
How to use this calculator
Choose a container preset or enter a custom door width and height, then enter all three cargo dimensions. The calculator tests every cargo dimension as the direction passing through the door.
Formula and method
For each orientation, two cargo dimensions must fit inside the door width and height. The remaining dimension is treated as the direction moving through the doorway.
Worked example
A long narrow crate can pass through a door even when its longest dimension is much greater than the door height, provided the other two dimensions fit the door cross-section.
What to check before you ship
Nominal door dimensions vary by equipment. A geometric pass also does not guarantee turning clearance, forklift access, dunnage or safe loading inside the container.
Why the result matters
Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
