Use the CBM calculator to find the total cubic volume of cartons, crates, pallets or other rectangular cargo. It accepts common metric and imperial dimensions and converts the result into both cubic metres and cubic feet.

How to use this calculator

Enter the outside length, width and height of one packed unit, choose the measurement unit, then enter the number of identical units. Use the dimensions after packaging, not the bare product dimensions.

Formula and method

For one rectangular unit, volume is length × width × height. The calculator converts the entered dimensions to metres first, then multiplies by quantity. One cubic metre equals approximately 35.3147 cubic feet.

Worked example

A carton measuring 60 cm × 40 cm × 35 cm has a volume of 0.084 m³. Ten identical cartons occupy about 0.84 m³ before allowing for loading gaps or pallets.

What to check before you ship

CBM describes space, not whether cargo will physically fit inside a vehicle or container. Door openings, orientation, unusable gaps, pallets, dunnage and weight limits can all reduce real loading capacity.

Why the result matters

Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
