This 20-foot container calculator is a focused version of the general container-loading tool for users who already know the equipment type they are planning around.
How to use this calculator
Enter the packed carton dimensions and choose centimetres or inches. The tool compares all six basic carton orientations inside common nominal 20GP internal dimensions.
Formula and method
For each orientation, the calculator finds the whole-number carton count along container length, width and height, multiplies those grid counts and keeps the highest result.
Worked example
A small carton may gain an extra complete layer when rotated, while a nearly square carton can produce the same count in several orientations. The calculator checks the basic permutations automatically.
What to check before you ship
This is not a full 3D bin-packing result. Payload, door opening, dunnage, load securing, mixed orientation and operational clearance can reduce actual loadable quantity.
Why the result matters
Accurate dimensions and weights help with quoting, space planning and avoiding preventable adjustments. Always use the packaged outside dimensions that will actually be tendered for transport, and verify any carrier-specific rules that affect billing or classification.
For a 20ft versus 40ft choice, read the container capacity comparison. If a piece is close to the opening size, check door clearance separately.
